Surgicutt Vet H (Dogs)

Buccal Mucosal Bleeding Time Device

Test applicable to: Dog
Sample: Whole Blood

Surgicutt Vet H (dog) is a useful in-clinic screening device for the identification of thrombocytic and vascular bleeding disorders in dogs by measuring the Buccal Mucosal Bleeding Time.

Surgicutt Vet H (dog) enables the veterinarian to make a standardised incision (white lancet -1.0mm deep and 5.0mm long) in 1/1000 second, based on an easy-to-use and simple incision lancet technique.

After planar placing on the mucosa, the nearly painless incision is made automatically by simply pushing the trigger. Due to the automatic retraction of the steel blade after setting the incision, there is no possibility of injury to either the animal or the vet.

The BMBT (Buccal Mucosal Bleeding Time) is the time that passes once an incision has been made with the use of Surgicutt Vet Dog until haemostasis is present.

FASTest Koi HV

For The Detection of Koi Herpesvirus

Test applicable to: Koi Carp and Common Carp
Sample: Gill tissue

FASTest KOI HV is a simple immunochromatographic “lateral flow” test for the rapid qualitative detection of KHV antigens in swab samples taken from gill tissue of Koi carp and common carp.

Mode Of Transmission

The mode of transmission of Koi herpesvirus is horizontal which may be direct or vectorial, with water being the major abiotic vector. However vertical transmission cannot be ruled out. Koi herpesvirus remains active in the water for at least 4 hours especially in water temperatures of 16-25°C. Koi Herpesvirus is shed by faeces, gills, urine and skin mucus. Infection is mainly via the skin. After entry, the virus spreads systemically from the portal of entry to superficial and internal organs.

High Levels Of The Virus

High levels of the virus DNA have been found in the following areas:

  • Skin
  • Gills
  • Spleen
  • Liver
  • Gut Tissues

FASTest Giardia Test Kit

Qualitative Detection Of Giardia duodenalis Antigens

Test applicable to: Small Animals, Companion Animals and Farm Animals
Sample: Faeces

FASTest GIARDIA Strip is based on the latest rapid immunochromatographic technique. It contains two unique monoclonal antibodies. One of these monoclonal antibodies is bonded to latex particles; the second is immobilized in the test zone of the strip. If the stool sample extract contains Giardia antigen, these will form an antigen-antibody complex with the latex particles.

Giardia duodenalis (syn. G. lamblia or G. intestinalis) is a protozoan parasite commonly inhabiting the upper intestinal tract of dogs, cats and a wide range of other animals including humans. Unlike some other products, FASTest Giardia detects both the active disease (trophozoite) and the carrier state (cyst).

Clinical Signs Of Giardia In Young Animals

Giardia tends to cause signs mainly in young animals e.g. dogs and cats aged between 6 weeks to 3 months. Asymptomatic carriers are possible. Giardia is a protozoan capable of infecting humans as well as other animal species e.g. Bovine, Feline and Canine. Giardia duodenalis exists in two different morphological stages: an asexual, intestinal growth form called a `trophozoite’ and an encystment form called an `oocyst’. Infection is achieved via oral ingestion of faeces or contaminated water.

FASTest TOXOPLASMA g

Qualitative Detection Of IgG Antibodies Against Toxoplasma gondii

Test applicable to: Dog and Cat
Sample: Whole Blood, Plasma or Serum

FASTest TOXOPLASMA g is a test for the qualitative detection of Toxoplasma gondii IgG antibodies in dogs and cats.

Test Principle

FASTest TOXOPLASMA g is based on an immunochromatographic “lateral flow” principle. T.gondii antibodies in the sample migrate along the nitrocellulose membrane and bind to fixed recombinant T. gondii antigens conjugated with gold particles forming a pink/purple coloured TEST line (T). A correct test procedure will be indicated by a second pink/purple CONTROL line (C).

Toxoplasma gondii Parasite

Toxoplasmosis is caused by the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii parasite which uses the cat as a primary host. Toxoplasma gondii infects a wide variety of other mammals and birds, and also humans can be infected which act as intermediary hosts.

Toxoplasma Hosts

Toxoplasma gondii infects a wide variety of other mammals and birds, and also humans can be infected which act as intermediary hosts.

Domesticated and wild cats are the primary hosts of this disease as the parasites life cycle is in the cat’s intestinal tract where it multiplies and is excreted via the cat’s faeces into the environment.

FASTest BCV Strip – Bovine Coronavirus Infection

Qualitative Detection Of Bovine Coronavirus Antigens

Test Applicable to: Calf
Sample: Faeces

The FASTest BCV Strip is based on a rapid immunochromatographic test principle. The test membrane contains two unique monoclonal antibodies. One of these monoclonal antibodies is bound to colloidal gold particles, the second is immobilised in the test zone of the strip. If the stool sample extract contains bovine coronavirus antigens, these will form an antigen-antibody complex with the gold particles. As this complex migrates along the Test zone of the membrane to the immobilised capture antibody, a pink-purple line is formed indicating a positive test result.

Fast Aetiological Diagnostics

Coronavirus infections show fluid and mucous diarrhoea, mostly over a short period of time. Stress situations and secondary viral or bacterial infections concurrent to bovine coronavirus infections can prove fatal to the animal.

StatSpin OvaTube

StatSpin OvaTube

Ova and Parasite Detection System

In-Clinic Parasite Detection Test Kit

OvaTube is the ideal in-clinic parasite detection test kit which is suitable for companion and small animals and has been developed for use in veterinary hospitals, practices and reference laboratories. In a situation where an animal has internal parasites or a particular parasite, the concentration flotation technique is recommended. Particularly the centrifugal technique, for the maximum yield of ova and oocysts.

Worm Egg Detection Method For Companion And Small Animals

The basic principle uses a flotation solution of special Specific Gravity in which the faecal sample is mixed and poured into a centrifuge tube. This can then be incubated vertically on the bench for up to 10-15 minutes. However, it is proven that if the tube is centrifuged at slow speed for a few minutes, the accuracy is greatly improved. Importantly, centrifugation forces heavy debris to the bottom of the tube; allows flotation of the ova and prevents debris from obscuring the final microscopic examination. OvaTube together with our ready-made Vetlab Flotation Solution is ideal for performing both techniques. For complete F.E.C kits please see our Parasitology page.

OvaTube – The Perfect In-Clinic Solution: fast easy and clean

The StatSpin OvaTube is the first centrifugation method that is easy and fast without any mess, with a simple coring tool to obtain a sample. Just add the sample to the tube and mix with standard flotation fluid. Centrifuge in either a fixed angle or horizontal centrifuge, remove the tube, add a coverslip, and twist. In just a few minutes results are ready to read. OvaTube can also be used without a centrifuge…read on for further information.

FASTest D4T Bovine Strip

D4T Qualitative Detection For…

Bovine Coronavirus (BCV), Cryptosporidium parvum, Escherichia coli-K99 (F5) and Rotavirus

Test applicable to: Cattle
Sample: Faeces

FASTest D4T Bovine is a rapid immunochromatographic test for the qualitative detection of Bovine Coronavirus (BCV), Cryptosporidium parvum, Escherichia coli-K99 (F5) and Rotavirus in faeces of cattle. In contrast to microscopic test methods which depend on intact oocysts, the test strip for Cryptosporidium parvum of FASTest D4T bovine also detects surface antigens of vegetative Cryptosporidium forms and fragments of all Cryptosporidium forms.

Early Detection

Due to high infection pressure, a general diarrhoea problem can occur on the farm. In this case, aetiological diagnostics of all bovines, regardless of age (asymptomatic shedders), and a check-up of feeding and keeping management is advisable. Special attention should be paid to Cryptosporidiosis because it is the only one that can be treated specifically. Here, an early diagnosis is a prerequisite for successful therapy, because the medication has to begin within 24 hours after the onset of diarrhoea. Therefore, early detection is necessary for a successful treatment as well as a fast initiation of prophylactic measures.

FASTest E.coli – K99 Strip

Qualitative Detection Of E.coli ssp. K99 (F5)

Test applicable to: Cattle

Sample: Faeces

The FASTest E.coli-K99 Strip contains two unique monoclonal antibodies. One of these monoclonal antibodies is bonded to colloidal gold particles, the second is immobilised in the Test zone of the strip. If the stool sample extract contains K99 main pilar antigens these will form an antigen-antibody complex with the gold particles.

Fast Aetiological Diagnostics

As this complex migrates along the Test zone of the membrane to the immobilised capture antibody, a pink-purple line is formed indicating a positive test result. The remaining conjugate migrates to a second antibody on the Control zone of the strip forming a second pink-purple line. This indicates the correct performance of the test.

Sample Storage

Samples can be stored for up to 2 days at +2ºC to +8ºC. For longer storage period the faecal suspension can be stored for several months at -20ºC.

FASTest RotavirusTest Kit

Qualitative Detection Of  Rotavirus Infection

Test applicable to: Companion Animals and Farm Animals
Sample: Faeces

The FASTest ROTA Strip contains two unique monoclonal antibodies. One of these monoclonal antibodies is bonded to Latex particles, the second is immobilised in the Test zone of the strip.

Rotavirus Antigens

If the stool sample extract contains Rotavirus antigens these will form an antigen-antibody complex with the Latex particles. As this complex migrates along the Test zone of the membrane to the immobilised capture antibody, a red line is formed indicating a positive test result.

The remaining conjugate migrates to a second antibody on the Control zone of the test strip forming a blue line. This indicates the proper performance of the test. The colour intensity varies and is dependent on the number of antigens in the sample.
